Introduction
Hello! My name is Gyvel Young, owner/sitter of SecurePet,
a professional pet sitting service for particular people.
I'd like
to welcome you to my web site and let you know that if business or
pleasure takes you out
of town, I'm ready to take care of your pets with the same loving
attention that you would provide. I will also help working professionals
by providing
their dogs with a mid-day potty break ... and a nice walk.
My love and
passion for animals—wild and domestic—is my primary
reason for starting my own pet sitting business. As a lifetime
pet owner, I saw the need for a reliable and conscientious sitter
in the Wimberley and Blanco,
Texas area, one that would go the “extra” mile.
After all, the Texas
Hill Country covers
a lot of territory!
Experience
With over thirty years of experience caring for
my own animals and those of others, I can give you my personal
assurance that I will make your pet my top priority. Service and
attention to detail are my biggest assets. While you are away, the
security of
your pet and home are my number
one concern.
I'm the founder of the Texas
Animal Guardians, a non-profit animal welfare group that is dedicated
to keeping pets out of shelters by providing help to owners experiencing
life-changing transitions: loss of income, housing, illness, or injury—anything
that prevents them from caring for their pets. Since the group's inception
in 2009, we have placed numerous dogs and cats into permanent homes
and provided food and medical serices to countless more.
Personally,
I am the owner of five resue cats and three rescue dogs. Along with
Moxie, Quigley, Sophie, Gracie, and Bartholemew, my heart is shared
with my
faithful canine companions Atticus, Kaya, and Shonee.
It's
possible you may have seen one of my books out there, too: I'm also
the author of the cat
book, “Meows:
I Want It and I Shall Have It!”
Education
When it comes to taking care of people's pets, I believe that you can
never be too prepared. For that reason, I hold a Pet
CPR Certification.
I also hold the Humane Society University Pets
for Life Certificate, a training course designed for
animal welfare
organizations who want to establish a behavior evaluation program,
improve animal handling, reduce the level of stress for the animal,
and make more informed decisions
regarding adoption matches.
I have also completed the Pets for LifeAnimal Behavior Helplines,
an 8-week course (not part of the Pets for Life certificate
program) designed to train individuals to operate a "helpline"
at their
organization.
Certificates of completion
have been earned
at Alfred
State College for the following courses:
• Veterinary Medical Terminology
• Small Animal Anatomy and Physiology
• The Mechanism of Disease in Companion
Animals
• Interpreting Animal Behavior for Safe
Handling
• Bite Prevention for Law Enforcement Officers
